George W    John W

I've got more than one set of Hill's in my family. Please click on a button above to see the pedigree of that Hill line.

Oh, The pages and pages of information I have on the Hill surname. Unfortunately most of it is not part of the Hill line I am researching!

MY MOST WANTED: John W. Hill was born in Maryland before 1830. He and his wife Sarah (Taylor) Hill went to Texas in 1836. They lived in a log cabin at Old Caney Creek in Matagorda County, TX. and at a plantation at Cedar Lake. John  was a Confederate Soldier in the Civil War. He was captured and became a prisoner of the Yankees. After the Civil War they moved to Matagorda Peninsula where they were well known all up and down the coast.

John W. Hill is the nephew of Commodore Stephen Decatur, but I don't know exactly how he is his nephew yet. I've found that Steven Decatur's wife was Susan Wheeler but have yet to find  information on other family members. If you can help me with the family line of Stephen Decatur or if you know of the John W. Hill I am researching then please e-mail me.
